How it's calculated
Every consonant in the full name is converted to a digit with the Pythagorean chart and summed; every vowel (A, E, I, O, U, and Y when it is adjacent to another vowel) is skipped. The total is reduced to a single digit, unless it lands exactly on 11, 22 or 33, in which case that master number is kept.
Worked example
"Mary Ann Lee" — consonants only: M, R, Y (adjacent to a vowel, so counted here as a consonant), N, N, L.
M(4) R(9) Y(7) N(5) N(5) L(3)
Sum = 33, which is itself a master number, so the Personality Number is 33 — not reduced further to 6.

What is the Personality Number?
It sums only the consonants in a full birth name using the Pythagorean chart, then reduces that total. Traditional interpretation reads it as the side of yourself others notice first, in contrast to Soul Urge's inner-facing vowel sum.
How does the Y rule apply here?
The same adjacency rule used for Soul Urge: Y counts as a consonant whenever a vowel sits immediately before or after it (skipping spaces and punctuation), and as a vowel — excluded from this calculation — only when no adjacent vowel is present.
Is Personality just "Expression minus Soul Urge"?
Exactly that, before either total is reduced. Every letter in a name is either a vowel or a consonant, so summing the consonants (Personality) and the vowels (Soul Urge) separately and adding those two totals together reproduces the Expression Number's total.
Can Personality be a master number?
Yes — if the sum of a name's consonant values lands exactly on 11, 22 or 33 before further reduction, that master number is kept. Longer names with many consonants are more likely to land on one simply by having more letters to sum.
Does a short name (few consonants) give a less meaningful result?
Numerologically, no — the calculation treats every name the same way regardless of length. A name with fewer consonants just has a smaller pre-reduction total, not a less valid one.
Does the Personality Number describe how others actually see me?
